a battlefield again
We follow the same rules
over the same battlefield,
but you’re over there
and I’m over here
and the game is not the same.
The small moves
a sign language,
the configuration of the pieces
a braille document,
as we scratch across the surface
into layers rising like tea leaves for the reading
in this battlefield again.
