Great Blue Heron in a thunderstorm This bird was huge, HUGE, unusually large even for a great blue heron. This is full zoom on my 70-300. It took off from across a marsh and flew about 400 feet before I lost it over these trees. I would put the wingspan at well over 6 feet.
