Pieces of Radio
Anonymous asked me if I am the same person who creates things in Second Life under the name AM Radio. I am not sure why it’s specifically relevant, but yes, it is an aspect of my work.
I have created many things in Second Life. Here is a video my friend Pyewacket created which is an excellent compilation of the work. I have created more spaces since the video was shot, but it captures the spaces well. I’m the one with the top hat, if that isn’t apparent. I built all of the objects and land in the video.
AM Radio - Second Life - HD from Nitwacket Machinima™ on Vimeo.
And my own video of the work (although I prefer Pyewacket’s):
“I put a picture up on a wall. Then I forget there is a wall. I no longer know what there is behind this wall, I no longer know there is a wall, I no longer know this wall is a wall, I no longer know what a wall is. I no longer know that in my apartment there are walls, and that if there weren’t any walls, there would be no apartment. The wall is no longer what delimits and defines the place where I live, that which separates it from the other places where other people live, it is nothing more than a support for the picture. But i also forget the picture, I no longer look at it, I no longer know how to look at it.”
—Georges Perec
At first I thought it was fire
trembling in the brush,
crackling in the leaves,
soot on the ground,
the sun in my eyes,
you on my mind.
